Christmas Party Dos and Don’ts 2025

The festive season is here, and with it comes the opportunity to celebrate your team’s hard work.

Christmas parties are fun but remember — they’re still a work event.

Follow these Dos and Don’ts to make sure everyone has a safe, enjoyable, and memorable time.

✅ Dos

Do remember it’s a work event
Even off-site or after hours, all workplace policies still apply. Treat your colleagues with the same respect as you would during a normal workday.

Do promote responsible drinking
Offer plenty of food and non-alcoholic options. Encourage your team to know their limits and drink responsibly.

Do arrange safe transport
Plan for taxis, ridesharing, or a designated driver to make sure everyone gets home safely.

Do prioritise safety
Have first aid resources on hand and ensure someone trained can handle emergencies. Check the venue for accessibility and hazards.

Do communicate expectations clearly
Set the tone by reminding your team of policies regarding behaviour, harassment, and safety ahead of the event.

❌ Don’ts

Don’t tolerate inappropriate behaviour
Bullying, harassment, and discrimination have no place — at the party. Make your zero-tolerance policy clear.

Don’t pressure anyone to drink
Not everyone drinks alcohol, and peer pressure can lead to uncomfortable situations. Respect individual choices.

Don’t ignore risks
Failing to plan for safety, transport, or emergencies can lead to accidents — and legal liabilities.

Don’t forget communication
Assume nothing. Provide reminders about behavior expectations, transport options, and safety measures before the event.

By sticking to these Dos and Don’ts, your Christmas party will be fun and safe — leaving only happy memories behind.
